MORE SECOND COMING PROPHECY

The Biblical story of Lot and the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah is also prophecy! Here, God wanted to delve back into prophesying about Christ’s 2nd Coming again, or mankind’s 6,000th year on Earth. (If you haven’t already, please read chapter 4 Noah before reading this summary or you might be a little confused.) Subsequently, this story will contain the same basic 2nd Coming prophetic “elements” as the story of Noah — 1 house of people being rescued (saved) by ascending up, while everything and everyone else is destroyed on Earth beneath! — but in addition, God prophesied two more “things” in this story concerning Christ’s 2nd Coming.

Try and grasp the truth of what I am telling you … the story of Lot and the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah is UNFULFILLED BIBLE PROPHECY!!! (Shame on those of you touting the Old Testament is over and done!) But Lot’s story WILL be fulfilled during Jesus Christ’s 2nd Coming to Earth. Let’s take a look at it.

LOT

Lot was Abraham’s nephew. And amazingly enough, this prophetic story took place while Abraham’s wife, Sarah, was pregnant with Isaac! Therefore, it was still mankind’s 2,048th year (around 1924 BC), and God was working secret prophetic double-time by prophesying about the Messiah’s 1st Coming (through the supernatural birth of Isaac) and now the Messiah’s 2nd Coming (through the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah).

Lot had moved to a city called Sodom, full of wicked (10 Commandment disobeying) people. Listen to some of their sins, spoken about through the 6th century BC prophet Ezekiel:

“Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination (sexual immorality) before me” (Ezekiel 16:49-50).

So, one day God decided there time was finished; He had had enough of their unrepentant, wicked, sinful hearts, and He chose to destroy them and their city!

THE ANGELS

Here now is the first additional 2nd Coming prophetic detail (more than the story of Noah) God controlled in the story of Lot to accurately prophesy of the events surrounding Christ’s 2nd Coming: He sent ANGELS to lead Lot’s family (house) out of Sodom before the destruction arrived! Listen:

“And there came two angels to Sodom at even … And while he (Lot) lingered, the men (two angels) laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city” (Genesis 19:16).

Almost 2,000 years later, God finally began to prophesy directly (through words) about the angelic gathering of the saints that would occur during Christ’s 2nd Coming through Christ’s lips himself:

“And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man (Jesus Christ) in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his ANGELS with a great sound of a TRUMPET, and THEY shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other ” (Matthew 24:30-31).

Notice in the story of Lot that it was ONLY his house (family) that was saved from the destruction — namely, him, his wife, and two daughters! Thus, God was once again perfectly accurate with the “1 house saved” detail (representing the “house of Christ”) in this prophetic 2nd Coming story.

Furthermore, the cities of Sodom & Gomorrah were located alongside the Dead Sea, which is the lowest land (below sea level) on the face of the Earth. In other words, there was only one way for Lot and his family to escape the destruction … BY GOING UP (representing the rapture) as they left Sodom!!! The angels cried:

“Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; ESCAPE to the MOUNTAIN, lest thou be consumed” (Genesis 19:17).

THE FIRE

Here is the second additional 2nd Coming prophetic detail (more than the story of Noah) God controlled in the story of Lot to accurately prophesy of the events surrounding Christ’s 2nd Coming: He chose to destroy the land of Sodom & Gomorrah and ALL its wicked inhabitants with FIRE!!!

“Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah BRIMSTONE and FIRE from the Lord out of heaven; And he overthrew those cities, and ALL the plain, and ALL the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground” (Genesis 19:24-25).

Do you see? NOTHING and NO ONE SURVIVED the fire — except Lot’s house! That is because this is precisely how it will be during Jesus Christ’s 2nd Coming to Earth … the ENTIRE surface of planet Earth will burn with FIRE and nothing will survive — except Christ’s house of resurrected righteous! Over a thousand years later, God finally began to prophesy directly (through words) concerning Christ’s 2nd Coming. Listen to the frightening words of the 8th century BC Israeli prophet Joel:

“For the DAY of the LORD cometh … A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness … A FIRE devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and NOTHING shall escape them … Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness … They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses … The Earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining … And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army…for he is strong that executeth his word; for the DAY of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it? (Joel 2:1-11).

And the gruesome words of the 7th century BC Israeli prophet Zephaniah:

“The great DAY of the LORD is near … That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation … A day of the TRUMPET … And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the WHOLE LAND (Earth) shall be devoured by the FIRE of his jealous ” (Zephaniah 1:14-18).

And the terrifying words of the 5th century BC Israeli prophet Malachi:

“For, behold, the DAY cometh, that shall BURN as an OVEN; and ALL the proud, yea, and ALL that DO WICKEDLY, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall BURN THEM UP … But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow as calves of the stall. And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts” (Malachi 4:1-3).

And then the words of 1st century AD prophet Paul:

“And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his might angels, In FLAMING FIRE taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ (10 Love Commandments!): Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power” (II Thessalonians 1:7-9).

And Peter’s words:

“But the DAY of the LORD will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall MELT with FERVENT HEAT, the Earth also and the works that are therein shall be BURNED UP” (II Peter 3:10).

How could it possibly be any clearer? ALL of Earth’s surface will BURN with FIRE during Christ’s 2nd Coming!!! I know it is not a popular message (almost unheard of in today’s mainstream church world), and I know it is an almost inconceivable physical event, but even so … it is true! Friend, I told you this before; God’s Word will NEVER be found out a lie. Subsequently, these Biblical prophet’s words (and the prophetic stories of Noah and Lot) will, without a doubt, be perfectly fulfilled at Christ’s 2nd Coming, which will occur during mankind’s 6,000th year on Earth.

And in undeniable verification of what I’ve written in this chapter summary concerning Lot’s story (being a prophetic picture of Christ’s 2nd Coming) listen to Jesus’ words himself when he spoke about the story of Lot:

“Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the SAME DAY that Lot went out of Sodom (a picture of the rapture) it rained FIRE and BRIMSTONE from heaven, and DESTROYED THEM ALL, EVEN THUS SHALL IT BE in the day when the SON OF MAN (Jesus) IS REVEALED” (Luke 17:28-30).
